There are a handful of states which participate in a Sales Tax Holiday. This holiday coincides with anticipated back-to-school shopping. If your state (and in some cases, city/county - I'm talking to you Missouri!) is participating you will not be charged state sales tax on qualifying purchases. Most states limit qualifying items to school supplies, clothing and shoes under $100.00 (each, not the whole transaction) etc. Some states include computers and related equipment up to $3500.00.
Here is a list of links to the specifics for each state that I am aware with a sales tax holiday. If your state is participating and not on the list, leave a comment letting me know.
